Beyond investing

Our sense of responsibility to the Taft-Hartley community transcends investment performance.  McMorgan contributes our time and financial resources to organized labor, and we employ union contractors and labor.  We also invest our clients’ assets in projects that are not only sound from an investment perspective but that create union jobs.

McMorgan takes pride in the fact that we:

  • Have invested more than $3.5 billion in union-built real estate—investments that have generated over 90 million man hours of union jobs
  • Have scored 100% on the AFL-CIO Key Votes Survey
  • Spend more than $500,000 annually supporting initiatives that are important to our firm and our clients

McMorgan also participates in and supports these Taft-Hartley educational opportunities:

  • International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP)
  • National Coordinating Committee for Multiemployer Plans (NCCMP)
  • National Labor Management Conference
  • National and Local Building Trades and AFL-CIO conferences
  • American Rights at Work
  • George Washington University Labor Studies Archive

Charitable Giving

We are proud to continue our program of charitable giving with two organizations that are making essential contributions to the lives of the less fortunate in our region.  The San Francisco Firefighters Toy Program and the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank provide sustenance and support for the hungry, homeless, and disadvantaged who are often overlooked in a region known for affluence and business success.

San Francisco Firefighters Toy Program

San Francisco Firefighters Toy Program For more than 20 years, McMorgan & Company has contributed to the Toy Program, a 501(c)(3) charity that has evolved into the city’s largest and oldest year-round toy program of its kind.

About S.F. Firefighters Toy Program

The program, founded in 1949, distributes more than 200,000 toys each year to disadvantaged children.  In addition, the program assists community organizations, including shelters for abused women and children.

It also responds to provide assistance to displaced children and families who become victims of floods, fires, and other disasters.  Over 20+ years, McMorgan & Company has contributed over $400,000 to this charity.

San Francisco-Marin Food Bank

San Francisco-Marin Food Bank For over five years, McMorgan & Company has contributed to the SF-Marin Food Bank to aid in their mission to end hunger in San Francisco and Marin.

About SF-Marin Food Bank

Since 1987, the Food Bank has pioneered many successful models aimed at ending hunger.  There’s a common misconception that only people who are homeless face the threat of hunger.  But in a region as expensive as the Bay Area, people from all walks of life struggle with hunger.

In these two counties, over 14% of meals that are needed are still unaccounted for — roughly one in seven meals &mdash reminding us that we still have much work to do to end hunger.
